Has Windows 11 Actually Made Windows Worse?​

Windows 11 has been around for a few years now, but I'm still not convinced that everything Microsoft has changed has actually made Windows better.

We've had stricter hardware requirements, Microsoft account pressure, more online services, advertising and recommendations appearing in parts of Windows, and features being added that not everybody asked for.

At the same time, Windows 11 is generally stable, supports modern hardware well and, for most people, probably just gets on with the job.

But here's the question:

If Windows 10 had continued receiving full support, would you actually have chosen to upgrade to Windows 11?

Or did you move to Windows 11 mainly because Microsoft effectively made the decision for you?

And for anyone who's moved to Linux or macOS, did Windows 11 have anything to do with it?

Interested to see where everyone stands on this one. 😁
 
Personally run Win 10 Pro & Enterprise LTSC Windows 11 Pro & Enterprise LTSC

Windows should come with a small OS letting users install what they desire rather than being bloated and users having to remove the unwanted lol

It would be much better if Windows started with just the basic operating system and essential tools, then gave you the choice of what extras you wanted to install.

Instead, you often spend the first hour removing apps and features you never asked for in the first place. 😂

The LTSC versions certainly show that Windows can be a lot cleaner and less cluttered when Microsoft wants it to be.
 
That's a fair point 👍 I suppose most devices come with something we don't want these days.

If it's easy enough to uninstall, it's not really a major problem. I just think it would be nice to have the choice during installation of what gets installed in the first place. 🙂
 
Whatever version of windows you use, just get a 3rd party app to strip it of all the bloatware, and it'll run lovely. Was posted in the old forum, can't remember the name of the app, might've been @Spud1966 who posted it.

I've been using windows since the 95 days, seen many iterations of it, but I do miss windows 7, that's the GOAT of most recent versions for sure. 10/11 are ok, I use both via work systems
 
I know what you mean. I’ve used Windows since the 95 days as well, and Windows 7 is still probably my favourite.
Windows 7 was definitely one of Microsoft’s best though. 👍
