Zgemma H7S starting to freeze

As there does not seem to be a section yet on sat box choices and what to choose so posting here.

H7S starting to freeze and only way is to power off at rear and on.
On a stronger power feed has made no diffence and thinking what enigma 2 receiver with 2 sat and saorview tuners if i need to buy.
Using it on a 4k tv but only freesat so not on 4k channels.
With the future of sat there does not seem to be a choice like 10 years ago with quad ,triple tuners.

Could you try a re flash of the image to clean the memory up and or try adding a memory swap file to see if that helps.

Many times i have reflashed box and set up from scratch and no restores done. Think i did query doing a usb plug in for memory and told not needed. This has been going on for years and only 3 months ago tried new power supply 5 a.
 
It could be heat related on these Zgemma boxes ive seen lots of fourm users install a fan pulling air out.

Yes every one and only use OpenVix.

Box is on a glass shelf in the middle with plenty of airflow all around it.
I did have to move it to other side as when my Onkyo amp was on it was like a rad . Powered off at mains.
 
I used to be able to check box temp but cannot remember in where to check it.

Mainly happens when box is in standby and not in use.

The only time i notice it is when i try to log into it to access recordings and it fails and notice then time is frozen.

Just checked temp is listed in my ET10000 but not in H7S ??

Was trying to remember a swap file and think there is a second usb port under the front flap.
I did use 8gb micro usb sticks which were handy in size and must have some around. Knowing me it will be a wifi or bluetooth one and wonder why it dont work.
Just to find one to do the job as i have a 2tb hdd in rear mains powered and internal ☹ as i like my space.

If either hard drives are ssd then you might be able to install a swap file on there. Ps have you tried your receiver without the hdd's installed?

No as i updated a year ago from hdd to ssd to lessen the strain and removed external one for a while but still happened.

Quick Google says yes.

How to Set It Up
    • Use an SSD formatted to ext3 or ext4. Do not use NTFS or FAT32 for swap files.
    • Go to your image menu (like OpenPLi, OpenATV, or VTI).
    • Find the Swap Manager or Memory Extension tool.
    • Choose your SSD as the storage device.
    • Select a size like 256MB or 512MB and create the file.
    • Enable autostart so the swap turns on when the box boots.
 
Must be a time limit on editing a post as wanted to add as loaded and active my swapfile so its a waiting time to see now.

And a new twist on the box as while in bed i was playing a recordingfrom H7S and it stopped like time ran out and stopped playing.
Funny thing is i got the play list from the Et10000 come up on screen but i was on the h7s play list.
No access to recordings on h7s and thought box froze again.
Come downstairs to check box and time on box was correct and Webif logged into
Went into to check on SWAP MANAGER AND BOX FROZE.
It does not accept commands and will need to be powered off / on again.
