Microsoft's latest Windows 11 preview updates add Cloud Rebuild, Wi-Fi recovery, Administrator Protection, and other enterprise-focused improvements.
Microsoft rolled out October's optional preview update KB5127936 (Windows 11, version 26H2 and 25H2) and KB5127653 (Windows 11, version 26H1) just a few hours ago. These contain the features, enhancements, and bug fixes that will eventually become available through the Patch Tuesday release next month on November 10. Both updates simply allows IT admins and enthusiasts to test some features early. IT admins will be particularly interested in these updates since they offer several features specifically for them.
For starters, IT admins can enable Administrator Protection simply through the Security > Account protection interface. This means that IT admins no longer have to rely on Group Policy Objects (GPO), Intune, or Configuration Service Provider (CSP) to enable it. Administrator Protection was made available back in August with KB5120998 (with some bugs fixed later), and we have covered its significance in detail here. The latest enhancement is available in Windows 11, version 26H1 via KB5127563, but it's in a "Gradual Rollout" release phase, which means that it will become visible to IT admins in a staggered manner.
