What’s the First Program You Install on a Fresh PC?​

Whenever I set up a new computer or do a clean installation, there are always a few programs I install almost immediately.

It got me wondering what everyone else considers essential.

Apart from your web browser, what is the first program you normally install on a fresh Windows or Linux system?

It could be anything — backup software, media player, password manager, hardware monitoring, photo software, utilities, or something completely different.

And is there one program you've been using for years that you still install on every machine?

Interested to see what everyone's "must-have" software is. 👍
 
I usually have 3 x PC's on the go. My main PC (Radeon RX 9070 XT) for gaming and everyday use, a gaming laptop for when lounging about the house, and a Surface Pro for when travelling.

The first things to be installed on all are:
  • Dashlane Password Manager.
  • Paint Shop Pro 7 (I also have 9, but prefer the earlier version).
  • Unreal Tournament 2004
 
The first thing I install is Chrome with the vpn an ublock extensions, followed quickly after with winrar. Clone software is way to sensible for me, I haven't used one since Ghost stopped working and I know I'll regret it when my Hd fails.
