Hive smart thermostat

I have a hive smart thermostat and receiver that I want to get installed on my boiler
my question is my Hive hub is the Nano 2 Hive hub from years ago which is not WiFi so do I need to get to get a new one with WiFi or not?

AI says yes but want to make sure by someone who has the same setup before I get someone to install it

I have looked into these myself, from my understanding you will need WIFI, especially if you want to control it away from home. Obviously i dont know much about the hub you have as i am looking at todays systems, its also unlcear wether you need a subscription or not to control it remotely, lots of mixed reviews on google.

I can switch on my lights/plugs when out/abroad
I have no subscription
I think thermostat and receiver talk to the Hub, the receiver is WiFi I think too which both go in to the boiler cupboard

I have Tapo lights and cameras, i was looking at Hive purely for heating, all the systems on the market today are wifi.
If the hub you have has no wifi how does it communicate with the the thermostat/reciever? Is it wired?

My Nano2 hub is wired and connects to the modem
With the receiver is my guess, thats separate that you buy with the thermostat

The Receiver: This unit is hardwired directly to your boiler. It receives heating and hot water commands from the thermostat or the internet hub using local Zigbee radio signals, not Wi-Fi

I already have a standard controller for my heating on my stairs at the bottom but can be placed anywhere which I can use to turn on/off or the temp up/down and its not WiFi so just must be the same using radio signals and its not Hive so I can't do it from my mobile or when out/abroad

So after a google search your nano2 hub uses radio signals to talk to the reciever, controlling your heating, and also with the nano2 hub you can control it when your away from home using the Hive app. Sorry im purely speculating here as ive only seen what i was looking into, but from what i can read, the nano2 hub, reciever and thermostat should be all you need to control your heating away from home, if you cant access it when your away, maybe you might have to configure your router so you can?

Yes it should be alright as I can do my lights/plugs, I just thought the Thermo was WiFi and its not just radio signals
I have a lad who works for my housing, he is going to fit it for me on mates rates
