Earlier this year, we reported that Mozilla was quietly working on a major redesign for its flagship desktop browser Firefox, dubbed "Nova," that featured softer rounded corners. Not long after, Mozilla confirmed "Nova" will debut on September 29th (tomorrow), with the launch of Firefox 157. But you can already download it (keep reading, and we'll show you how).
Apart from the updated visuals, Firefox 157 introduces a new compact mode that trims down extra padding around tabs and toolbar buttons to make more room for actual web content. Your CPU can now rest easy, because Mozilla has wired hardware-accelerated AV1 decoding into WebRTC video calls. Amazon has also been removed from the list of built-in search engines, but it's still possible to restore the store manually through the browser settings menu.
