hi all

I am looking at setting up a few cameras in my garden, but not for security, for recording wildlife that comes to my garden

I do have a Synology DS923+, which I would like to send the recording to as my wife is disabled and would not be able to play about with flash drives each day

So I have been thinking the cameras would be PoE, so I would only need to run one network cable from the house to my shed and then have a PoE switch in the shed that would feed the cameras.

Just not sure if this would work and what would be the best setup that would not cost a small fortune

Any information or help would be appreciated
 
What about buying a set of ptz cameras in a pack from something like tapo. Stick some sd cards in the camera and your mrs can then log into the app from a smart phone or windows if its supported and as the camera would be recording 24/7 she could replay a file from the saved recordings.
 
I recently added a Hikvision "AI" camera to my home setup. I wanted it for the motion detection features so I could be alerted when there was a person in the mapped field of view. If the settings were set sensitive enough it would pick up the neighbours cat but would not trigger on leaves or crips packets in the wind. This might be the ideal solution for you. It can take an SD card and can be powered by PoE or 12v. 12v may be a cheaper solution rather than having to buy a PoE switch. The Hik connect app works well with it also. I am quite happy with it.
